Michigan Bans Chocolate Bait For Bear Hunting

Chocolate contains chemical harmful to bears

Mlive.com reports Michigan banned using chocolate or anything containing cocoa as bait for bear hunting. That state’s Natural Resources Commission met March 9 to vote on the ban. Chocolate contains a chemical called theobromine, which can poison bears. Michigan now joins New Hampshire as the only two states that ban chocolate as bait for bear hunting.
