Guadalupe County Places Bounty On Feral Hogs

Feral hog tails valued at $5 each in Guadalupe County

The San Antonio Express-News reports Guadalupe County will place a bounty on feral hogs. The county commissioners court voted Tuesday to approve a bounty to eliminate 2,000 hogs in the county. According to the paper, hunters can only harvest hogs during the eligible period. They must provide the hog’s tail to the county as evidence.

The county will value feral hog tails at $5 a pop. Hunters cannot intentionally breed feral hogs just for the program. They cannot bring in hogs from outside county borders. They have to dispose of the animal carcasses. A start date has not yet been established, but County Extension Agent Travis Franke said he believes the paperwork should be ready by mid July.
