Hunters Extravaganza Kicks Off Tomorrow in Fort Worth
For 40 years the Hunters Extravaganza, the “Granddaddy of All Hunting Shows,” has grown bigger and better. Throughout the month of August in Texas, we fellow hunters will gather under one roof to check out the newest products and services the hunting industry has to offer. We’ll meet up with fellow hunting buddies; enter a buck into the TTHA Deer Contest; share stories from the previous hunting season; compete in the 3D Archery shoot; compare notes with Dr. Deer; and join in good fellowship.
Since 1976 when Jerry Johnston first started what was then called a “convention,” it has evolved into what we now call the Hunters Extravaganza. With Hunters Extravaganza shows in Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi, each year they’ve proven to deliver an experience you can’t get from your computer or phone.
Whether it be you and your buddies getting together once a year to attend the Hunters Extravaganza; entering your buck into the TTHA Deer Contest that took you four years to finally take down; buying your first bow with Gary at All Star Archery; or buying a treestand from Ronnie at Woodsey Too Treestands one year and ending up showing him your trophy doe that you took from it, you just can’t get these experiences from technology.
This year we kick off the shows in Fort Worth August 5-7 at a new venue, the Fort Worth Convention Center. Why the move? With our biggest show always selling out and both attendees and exhibitors lining up at the door to get into the show, we believe a bigger venue would be the best for everyone. Now, we only moved down the road two miles and we’re still working closely with Will Rogers Center. It’s so close that attendees can still park at the Will Rogers Center and TTHA will have a complimentary shuttle waiting to pick you up and drop you off at the front of the Fort Worth Convention Center.
After the Fort Worth show we will head to Houston August 12-14 held at the NRG Center. We have expanded the floorplan in Houston and look forward to expanding it more over the next few years. We then proceed to our hometown where it all began 40 years ago in San Antonio. August 19-21, 2016, marks our second year at the new venue, the Freeman Coliseum Expo Hall, and all can agree this move was a great one for our show, offering more space for more exhibitors and closer parking for everyone. We then finish the month of shows in Corpus Christi August 26-28.
As this is only our second year in Corpus Christi, we plan for this Hunting and Fishing Extravaganza to keep getting better and better every year. At all shows we will have attractions such as Joe Martin’s Snakes of Texas, TTHA Deer Contest, Catch Fish Tank, plus our newest attraction this year, the Alligators from Gator Country! So plan to attend one or all of our Hunters Extravaganzas and experience something you just can’t get from a computer or phone. It’s a TTHA experience!
