Standing Together – at the Voting Booth

A Message from our President & CEO, Dave Keith:

Well, Trophy Hunter Nation, here we are in the middle of October – whitetail bow season is well under way, and by all reports, off to a pretty good start.  Rifle season is coming up quickly, and we’ll all be able to get that hunting time we’ve been craving throughout the craziness of this pandemic.

In addition to time to hunt, though, there is another important time upon us – election time. Throughout 2020, we’ve encouraged the Trophy Hunter Nation to Stand Together, and I would venture to say there may never have been a more important time for us to stand together at the ballot box.

Now, as a hunter, I would never take it upon myself to tell you how you should hunt.  Where you hunt, how you hunt, and what animal you chose to harvest are all very personal choices.  All I want to do is just encourage you to get out and hunt!

From my perspective, the same goes for voting – how you vote and whom you vote for are also very personal choices.  I just want to also encourage you to get out and vote your values.

I rarely wade off into the dangerous and murky swamp of politics.  That’s a good way to get eaten alive. As hunters, though, I believe we should all be paying close attention to how various candidates, both at the state and national level, stand when it comes to hunting, conservation, and the Second Amendment. As a freedom-loving Texas hunter, I certainly don’t want some politician telling me what I can and can’t own when it comes to firearms.

To turn an old phrase, I’m going to say that hunters that stay home on Election Day elect anti-hunters, and pro-Second-Amendment voters that stay home on Election Day elect anti-gun leaders.

I encourage you to go to websites like gunowners.orgTSRA.com and TSRAPAC.com and get educated about where each candidate stands on the issues that are important to your values.

Early voting started October 13th in Texas.  I strongly suggest you get to the polls and make your vote count like your hunting lifestyle depends on it – because it does.
