Squirrel Hunting Big Deal In East Texas

East Texas squirrel season runs through Feb. 26

For die-hard squirrel hunters in East Texas, the upcoming deer season is a mere sideshow, according to outdoor blogger Shannon Tompkins. The squirrel-hunting culture is that strong in this part of the state. “If you are a skilled squirrel hunter, you’re a skilled hunter. Period,” he writes. “The lessons learned in the squirrel woods translate to every other form of hunting.”
