Oil Bust Hits Hunting Hard In Texas

Oil industry woes spoiling banner whitetail season

The San Antonio Express-News reports a decrease in demand for whitetail and other big game hunts. Hunting industry insiders blame the downturn on falling oil prices. As oil prices drop, outfitters slash their prices, yet they cannot attract any hunters.

“Hunting is way down and it’s followed oil,” rancher Larry Priour told the paper. “Now that we have the rain, the deer are in great shape but the oil bust is not bringing the hunters.” Marty Berry photo
