Louisiana’s constitution grants each citizen the right to keep and bear arms and states that this right shall not be abridged, but concerns by some regarding future restrictions on concealed carry have prompted Louisiana State Sen. Neil Riser to sponsor what he has called the strongest Second Amendment-supporting law in the nation. Senate Bill 303 is a proposed state constitutional amendment that would strengthen the state’s declaration of firearm ownership and possession as fundamental right. The measure, passed earlier by the state Senate, was passed in May by the state House and must now receive a majority when presented to the Louisiana voters in November.—courtesy National Shooting Sports Foundation
