Montana Wildlife Officials Killing Bighorn Sheep To Save Them
The Outdoor Hub reports Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks officials have proposed to kill bighorn sheep in the Tendoy Mountains in order to save the species. Pneumonia has been a prevalent problem with the bighorn sheep there, and it stems from contact with domestic sheep and goats, according to officials.
So, wildlife officials will kill off those sheep, trap other sheep from healthy herds, and re-introduce the healthy ones into the Tendoy Mountains. Meanwhile, experts plan to learn more about domestic sheep in order to have pneumonia-free ones in the mountains before bighorn sheep get re-introduced, which would get them off to a good start.
