TPWC cites potential conflicts between quail hunters and deer hunters
The Houston Chronicle reports Texas Parks and Wildlife Commissioners rejected a proposal to extend whitetail deer season by two weeks in the North Zone. Commissioners cited potential conflicts between quail hunters and deer hunters in some Rolling Plains counties for rejecting it. In other Commission news, hunters may now use guns or bows that use compressed air to fire projectiles on deer and most other game other than migratory birds. Dove hunters in the South Dove Zone will get a Sept. 14 season opener, the earliest one since 1940.
