Congressmen Defend Social Security Beneficiaries’ Second Amendment Rights
Nineteen members of the powerful Ways and Means Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, all Republicans, this week sent a strongly worded letter to the Acting Commissioner of Social Security telling her that an Obama administration proposal to provide the names of some disabled social security beneficiaries to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) to automatically classify them as prohibited persons would meet their opposition should such a “misguided policy” be pursued.
The letter points out such a move would violate the spirit of the Americans with Disability Act and revoke without cause a constitutional right. Read the letter here.
