Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) are proposing changes for the 2012-13 hunting seasons, including changes to quail, deer and pheasant seasons.

The TPWD closed on a $7.14 million purchase of 3,333 acres of Cross Timbers region ranch land in North Texas from several different owners late last week.

The drought has taken a toll on all Texas wildlife resources, but among the hardest hit is the bobwhite quail. TPWD is working to address the decline.

TPWD biologists are asking hunters and landowners to bring their harvested mule deer to a voluntary mule deer check station in the Trans-Pecos region.
