Deer Collisions Rise; W. Virginia Tops List

For the sixth year in a row, West Virginia topped the list of states where vehicles are most likely to hit a deer, according to State Farm Insurance data. South Dakota moved from third to second on the list. State Farm estimates the number of deer-related collisions in the U.S. has increased 7.7 percent over the last year. This jump comes after a three-year period during which these collisions dropped 2.2 percent. An estimated 1.23 million deer-related collisions occurred between July 1, 2011, and June 30, 2012. In case you’re wondering, Texas ranks 40th in deer collisions. Last season, the Lone Star state ranked 39th.—courtesy State Farm Insurance and National Shooting Sports Foundation.
