Texas Trophy Hunters Association Promotes Environmental Education
Texas Trophy Hunters Association (TTHA) is proud to have recently joined the No Child Left Inside Coalition. This fast-growing Coalition is committed to supporting local and statewide efforts to expand and enhance environmental education and to provide enhanced professional development opportunities in environmental education. Their efforts to improves how we teach our young people about the environment is having great success in Washington
The Coalition, with more than 840 member organizations, has won strong support in Congress for the No Child Left Inside Act. This legislation would authorize a significant increase in federal spending on environmental education. In addition, it would give states an incentive to create environmental literacy plans, to make sure that all graduates have a basic understanding of environmental issues.
The bill represents a major milestone in environmental education, which has never been adequately funded. In the fall of 2008, it passed the House of Representatives with strong bipartisan support. That’s because members of Congress are increasingly recognizing the benefits that stem from environmental education and understand the need to equip the next generations with the knowledge to be good stewards of the earth and to be able to overcome the serious environmental challenges facing us.
The effort to pass the NCLI Act will continue into 2009, and the Coalition could use the help of members of the Association and anyone else concerned about getting kids outside to explore and learn about the environment.
