A Texas lawmaker wants to further push state sovereignty by exempting guns, ammo, and gun parts made in the state from federal regulation.

HB 410, dealing with displaying concealed handgun permits, will be listed on the House Intent Calendar to be debated by the full Texas House of Representatives.

Texas Senate Bill 730, authored by Senator Glenn Hegar (R-Katy) and House Bill 1301, authored by Rep. Stephen Frost (D-Atlanta) would allow possession of firearms and ammunition on an employer's parking lot when stored in a private locked vehicle and would protect law abiding employees from termination for this possession.

A federal appeals court ruled April 20 that private citizens can challenge state and local gun laws by invoking the Second Amendment—the first such ruling in the nation.
